Shopping with Faith and Harmony & Princess Barbies

We had time before the Superbowl to go shopping and buy all kinds of girlie stuff. Barbies, purses, sunglasses, etc etc.

I flew home early the next day- while they were still sleeping.

Did you know that this is Barbie's 50th birthday? OMG, when I saw that on the news I had to stop and think! We lived in So. Calif. when I was a child. My mom had a good friend who worked at Mattel, and she would bring me and my sister dolls to play with and see how we liked them. I'm now 51...my sister is 54.

Years ago we realized that we had prototype Barbies, some never produced, that would have been worth an absolute fortune now. When we were teens however, we sent our Barbies to our less-than-fortunate cousins in Eastern Oregon so they'd have dolls to play with.

Hindsight is 20-20 of course...OMG

About 15 years ago, we visited the cousins, for my grandmothers 80th birthday, in Athena, OR. They still had the Barbie stuff stored in the basement. Sis and I went to look, and they were absolutely trashed.

Oh well, at least two generations of kids got an immense amount of enjoyment out of these one-of-a-kind dolls....*sigh*
